Are they still around?

Does anyone know of a site where there is still alot of play by post or email games? I've been looking around for quite awile now and have only found a bunch of dead sites.

There are some system free sites that one can find every now again, but if you're looking for a site that runs Decipher's game, you'll be hard pressed. I've posted an advertisement for this board and the corresponding site and only 4 people have signed up. I'm going to see if I can coerse a few friends and my brother into playing a game here. I'll hunt down a few links for you when I get back to my home computer

Ok I looked at those but couldn't find much though they are a great help for information. Thank you for trying! I did find one though and though there arn't too many people there we're getting something going. If anybody wants to know its at http://www.roleplayrealm.com/boards/. I'll probably be writing about our Adventures here!

What type of game would you be looking for other than a PbP?

I play interactive style RPG's using table top software such as MapTool (free and awesome and can be found here www.rptools.net). The games I'm currently GM'n using MapTool, are: All Flesh Must Be Eaten (A zombie survival game), DC Heroes, Starship Troopers and getting ready to GM a Pathfinder game.

I've tried PbP and it just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm more of a hands-on and get in the action kinda player lol.

I'll check it out and maybe get a game started. You would be interested then?

I'd love to try this game out as a player. It'd help me learn the rules a lot easier that's for sure. lol

hmmm... I've taken a small peek at it and it looks a bit complex. Maybe thats just me though, I usually think things are hard until I try them =) I have downloaded them and will try and start soon. But geting people to actually come and play may be a problem...

I'm assuming you're talking about MapTool?

It can be a little daunting at first, but once you get used to it, it's easier than buttering bread and it's a lot of fun. Especially when you see your maps and games come alive. It's pretty cool.

If you wanted to explore it more indepth, I'm more than willing to answer any questions you have about it. I've done quite a bit of programming for the software and play on it frequently.

As for finding people, the websites I linked to are excellent spots to place a game ad because they're both very active player forums.

By the way, Celegorn, would you be interested in GMing a game on here? Or do you not have the time?

It depends on the frequency you wish to play.

As much as I would LOVE to, I do have terrible time constraints. Such is life. I'd be willing, however, if the online meeting were once a month (maybe every other week, maybe) and no more than 2 hours. I might be able to swing that by doing some of my homework/grading papers while waiting for replies.

If it's just a casual game where the players post as they have time during the day/week and there isn't a set time.

If you'll get the players together and decide what you want to do, I'll try and see what I can manage.

Personally I think just a casual game would be best, because I find that in the online meetings something always goes wrong and not everybody can get there but if it is just a steady posting game then no one is hard pressed. I'll try and snag a few players and we'll se how it goes!

Unfortunately my game on Roleplay Realm never got on its feet. We had everything ready then suddenly it just fell apart. I find it very disheartening when this happens. I have yet to play a long chronicle fully from start to finish.

I'm still around and saw the posts for a PbP game. Unfortunately I don't have time for that, but my old group and I will be playing (face to face) a new campaign of LOTR this fall!
